Delicious Red

Red Pear
A red pear that is! I haven't seen a red pear before... but when I saw this one at the grocery store I was drawn to it! So I bought it and took it home to open it up and see what I thought.... Delicious! Pretty much like a regular ol' green pear but a bit sweeter and very juicy! YUM. I think I will be buying red pears from now on.

Project Runway Sixth Episode

project runway 6
This episode gave the designers a lot of creative freedom and it was great to see what each person could dream up in their heads. I personally LOVED the outfit that Chris (MN designer!) made and I LOVED his story line- a vampiress who falls in love with a man and must decide to wed him and turn him into a vampire or just runaway and leave her love forever. It totally falls in line with all the twilight-esque movies, books, and shows out there right now. I didn't think the actual winning look by Nicolas was really all that great NOR did I like the person they kicked off this episode. I was really shocked that Ramon got the boot, especially since he is from MN! I think Louise should have gotten the axe, considering she picked her own genre/style and couldn't produce!

Where the Wild Things Are

Where the Wild Things Are
No childhood (or adulthood) would be complete without reading Where the Wild Things Are. I am so excited to see that this children's book has transformed into a movie creation. You can see the trailer and read more about it on the official website.

Where the Wild Things Are
Where the Wild Things Are
With the movie coming out soon, Cory Godbey created a blog called Terrible Yellow Eyes. He writes, "Terrible Yellow Eyes is a collection of works inspired by the beloved classic, Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.

Over the coming weeks and months I'll display a growing collection of works created by invited contributing artists and myself.

We share a love and admiration for Sendak's work and the pieces we present here are done as a tribute to his life and legacy."

I encourage you to go over to the blog and check out all the amazing work from artists who are inspired by Where the Wild Things Are. Above are two of my favorite illustrations that were submitted to the blog. Enjoy!

Autumn Exquinox

Today is the first day of fall! I have always loved fall with all the gorgeous tree colors, tailgating, bonfires, and crisp weather. But when you live in the tundra, fall can only mean one thing: snow is around the corner! This fall I have been really inspired by the leaves that fall in our yard. So today, I bring you my inspiration, process and final product for a new brooch I have designed.

I love the colors I achieved on this little leaf. I will enjoy wearing this little guy all fall (and you should too! you can get one here!)

Project Runway Fifth Episode

project runway 5
I have to say that most of the designers outfits were pretty amazing. Me oh my what you can do with newspaper! I, like most of the designers, am a little miffed why Johnny would come up with such a random story about why he ditched his first dress? Sooo if you created this awesome Dior draped dress and then spilled water on it..... why the hell wouldn't you remake the same dress as fast as you could possibly work? All lies Johnny, and we saw right though you!

Oh Ikea...

Ikea PS MASKROS Pendant lamp
While Designers fume over Ikea's logo switching to Verdana–I will swoon over the new IKEA PS MASKROS Pendant lamp Sadly, it is not in stock in the Ikea here... boo! But hopefully it is a matter of time before I can get my little hands on one! If you keep putting out great designs like this Ikea, maybe, JUST maybe, I will forgive you for using Verdana.

Mad Men Mad Men was exceptional as always tonight. It was a bit slow but yet so much was revealed. Some big things are festering this season and I can't wait to see them!

Btw, I went on to AMC to create my little Mad Men character... hopefully if I met Don Draper in a bar I would be smart enough to take the drink he bought me and walk away :)

PS- contest winner will be announced tomorrow! :)

The fourth installment of PR

Late last night I was happy to see that Project Runway was airing reruns at midnight so I didn't have to try to track down the episode today. What I wasn't happy about is that I stayed up until 1:30 am to watch such a boring episode! (yes, I do watch models of the runway as well....) It seems that whenever there is a model challenge, all the designers just, well, kind of suck! I did have a few that I liked, but maybe in another color... also I must rant: what is it with all these models walks? Is the runway fierce strut being replaced with sloppy, slow run down the runway? Anyway, this week we finally say goodbuy to poor construction and boring ol' idea Qristyl. (Dang that was hard to spell!)

The other night my man and I were at the grocery store and we happened to walk right into the ice cream isle. Now he is definitely known for his sweet tooth so I often get caught up in eating all the fatty desserts with him- but not this night! I laid my eyes on this lush looking sorbetto and hoped it was better than some double chocolate double cookie dough chip triple nut ice cream he was buying. I got home and it was GREAT! Not only was it low in calories it was SUPER rich. Just a few spoonfuls were enough to to satisfy my sweet tooth! One little container has lasted quite a few nights for me! YUM!

New Retro Lady in the Shop!

I have a new retro lady in the shop for all you cat lovers! My husband has been bugging me forever about cats... (I grew up with dogs, he grew up with cats... you can see where this is heading!) so I thought it would be appropriate to have a note card for all you who prefer cats over dogs! Since I am allergic, this is probably the closest I will come to ever owning one of these little feline friends!

Three Strikes and You're Out!

I can't say that I am sad to see Mitchell go home. He really didn't do a whole lot of anything in any of the challenges! I really thought the winning look was pretty hot, especially since it was whipped up in no time. I could certainly see a similar version gracing the red carpet for a movie premiere or mtv movie awards. What was your favorite look?

Happy September!

I can't believe summer is practically gone! We had the most beautiful, cool summer here and I fear that snow is literally just around the corner making for a long winter. I hope that isn't the case... although this little leaf certainly thinks so...
